Jia Zhifang, the pen name of Yang Li and Leng Hun, was born in shanxi in 1915. He went to high school at Beiping in 1932 and join in the December 9th Movement. He studied at University of Tokyo, and left for the War of Resistance against Japan in 1937. He worked as a translator and a propagandist of the army fighting the Japanese, and the undergrounders of the Communist Party. After liberation, he worked as a professor and director of Chinese Department at Aurora University, a professor of Fudan University, the director and Ph.D.supervisor at Modern Literature Teaching and Research Section. Moreover, he is the adviser of ancient Chinese literary Research Centre at Fudan University, honorary president of Chinese Comparative Literature Association, adviser of the Society of Modern Chinese Literature and honorary president of Shanghai Popular Literature Association.
The representative works of Jia include "Jia Zhifang Novel Collection", "My Friends", "The aged and the old things", "Jia Zhifang Memoirs",etc.
