Liu Suola

Liu Suola is a world- renowned composer, a highly individualistic vocalist and a major award-winning contemporary writer.

In the 80's, after graduating from the Central Conservatory of Music with a degree in composition, she achieved early success with her best-selling & award-winning novella "You Have no Choice". Her literature work received not only critical praise but also became cult reading for the young generation and has remained so up to today.

From 1988 to 2002, she lived first in London and then in New York, collaborating with many music masters and gave performances worldwide. She is the founder of Liu Sola & Friends ensemble, which is made up of all top Chinese instrumental soloists. Over the years, Liu Sola & Friends ensemble has become a highlight group for many major festivals around the world.

Liu Suola's writings have been translated into different languages and published in major publishing houses worldwide. Her most important novel is "Small Tales of the Great Ji Family" (2000) written in New York. This political-mythological novel has published in Chinese as "Da Ji Jia de Xiao Gu Shi" or "Nv Zhen Tang", and has been translated into Italian and French. Besides fictions, she has written many best selling essays on music, art and women issues in China, such as "Liu Sola on the Move", "The lipstick talk" and so on.
