Oriental Publishing Center is directly affiliated to China Publishing Group and is based in Shanghai. Among its major publications are academic works on the subjects of social and popular sciences, small and medium-sized encyclopedias and relevant dictionaries, and reference materials. For many years, books published by the Oriental Publishing Center have been knowledge-based, with high literary value and ideological content.

In recent years, Oriental Publishing Center has published an average of 200 titles of books and audio-visual products annually. By 2005, it has published a total of 3000 titles of publications. Among them, The Encyclopedia of China, jointly published with Encyclopedia of China Publishing House, The Science of Chinese Poetry, The Submerged Splendor, Hamlet Talks of Elegance and Hard Journey of Culture are well-known works.

Oriental Publishing Center publishes two periodicals: Metropolis and China Advertising. Also, under it there is a company known as Dong Zhi Fang Audio-visual Electronic Publishing House.
