Zhou Liwei was born in 1948. In 1965, he went from Hangzhou to Ningxia as a "Zhiqing" (which means "young intellectual"). Since then, he had worked as a farmer for ten years. After that, he studied in university for three years and afterwards lived a 11-year's teaching life--as a Deputy Director, teaching the Agriculture System Engineering.
In 1989 he returned to Hangzhou and worked for the self-distribution of some publishing house. Then he was transferred to the Xinhua Bookstore in Zhejiang Province, as a General Manager.
Now he is the Chairman and General Manager and Party Committee Secretary of the Xinhua Bookstore Group of Zhejiang Province.
During the thirteen years that Mr. Zhou presided over the Xinhua Bookstore in Zhejiang Province, which was also the period of the transformation from Traditional planned economy to Socialist market economy, Mr. Zhou grasped the different principal contradiction occurred in different periods, focused on the development and the marketing-oriented, took a series of effective measures, and creatively pushed the development of Zhejiang Province, also improved the System of Xinhua Bookstore in Zhejiang Province.
In 2005, the sale of Xinhua Bookstore of Zhejiang province (including the Ningbo area) reached 45.43 hundred million, 6.21 times of that in 1993, 7.31 hundred million. And the profit was 1.743 hundred million, 9.34 times of that in 1993, 18.66 million. The fixed assets were 15.4 hundred million, 18.68 times of that in 1993, 8.24 million. The net assets was 24.5 hundred million, 20.08 times of that in 1993, 1.2204 hundred million; the total assets, 48 hundred million, 13.33 times in 1993, 3.6255 hundred million.
