The 6th Working Conference of the Working Party of "China Book International" Project concluded successfully in Hefei, Anhui province on Mar. 26. Reporter learnt from the conference that China will aim at achieving new growth this year while maintaining the record of more than 4,000 outbound licensed copyrights. On the basis of keeping the "quantity" of outbound licensed copyrights, GAPP is working on the International Bestseller Plan and will grant positive supports involving policy and funds to books which will possibly become international bestsellers with great influence, good-quality and receive highly attention from foreign readers, aiming to producing a number of international bestsellers.

"China Book International" project achieved remarkable achievements in 2009. As a well-known project, CBI project shows demonstration effects on China's publishing industry to go abroad; A "fortified version" of the CBI project, "Translation and Publication of Chinese Cultural Works" project was initiated last year, evoked strong repercussions at home and abroad. Thanks to these two projects, member entities licensed overseas 2,101 items of copyrights (not including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, increased by 65% compared to 2008. China saw a rapid increase in terms of the number of outbound licensed copyrights, however inevitably, low in quality, some books can not meet the demands of the international market in terms of content, language and printing. Chiefs of the State Council Information Office and GAPP who presented at the conference revealed, focus will be given on "quality" instead of "quantity", and more supporting policies will be worked out to favor high-quality books and projects in the future.

This international "green passport" is putting Times Publishing & Media Co Ltd on orbit wheels to go abroad for overseas market expansion and for the promotion of the Chinese culture.
