An Wei, CPC member, who was born in Hubei Province in 1942, is the president of Shaanxi Province Snow Research Centre, a member of Chinese Writers Association, a director of Shaanxi Province Writers Association, a director of Translators Association of China, the vice president of Shaanxi Translators Association. He was admitted to Xi'an Foreign Languages Institute in 1962 and graduated in 1966. After graduation he worked at FAO (Foreign Affairs Office) of Shaanxi Province and employed himself for English oral interpretation, written translation, examining manuscripts and leadership jobs. He had translated for Prime Minister Morley Callaghan, US President Canter, US vice President Mondale, U.S. Secretary of State Kissinger, etc.
He translated and published 15 works, such as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "magician", "Red Star over China", "Great Woman". He published 100 papers and translations, added up to around 4 million words. Moreover, he was awarded with first prize of Shaanxi Literature Translation, Outstanding Award of the nineties translations, etc.
