The 7th Shanghai Book Fair Opened; Zhejiang Brought 5,000 Titles of Publications

The 7th Shanghai Book Fair opened on Aug. 11. More than 470 publishing houses/presses from across the country gathered in Shanghai, to share the pleasure of purchasing and reading books with the readers. At the fair with the theme of  "I Love Reading, I Love Life – Going Together With Shanghai World Expo.," Zhejiang province not only brought about nearly 5,000 titles of publications, but also displayed its long history and culture. Mao Linsheng, standing member of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and head of the CPC Provincial Publicity Department presented and delivered speech at the opening ceremony.
 
The fair will last seven days, displaying 150,000 titles of books in total. There will be over 400 cultural activities, aiming to integrate and interact with the World Expo. More than 100 writers including Mo Yan, Wang Anyi, Mai Jia and Liu Xinwu will participate in a series of thematic activities at the fair.
 
As the guest province for the fair, Zhejiang province did elaborate planning and careful preparation. All 20 publishing houses/presses and a few digital publishing entities in the provinces have participated in the fair and launched a number of excellent works representing Zhejiang's and national publishing level such as The Collected Works of Huang Binhong, The Collected Works of Wang Guowei, The Collected Works of Paintings in the Song Dynasty, and the reprinted Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature (Si Ku Quan Shu).
 
Leaders of Zhejiang province pointed out,"the fair is a key window to promote and recommend Zhejiang. The scale of that Zhejiang participated in the fair is the largest ever in recent years. We will learn the best from others, absorb and integrate it to promote the cultural development and prosperity of our province."
