On 7 August, Zhou Heping, director of the National Library of China (NLC), met with a 4-person delegation of Ministry of Culture and Arts of South Africa, including Lulama Xingwana, minister of Ministry of Culture and Arts of South Africa, and accompanied officials from Ministry of Culture and Arts of South Africa and the Embassy of South Africa in China.
During the interview, Zhou Heping briefly introduced the history and general situation of the NLC, and reviewed the cultural exchange between China and South Africa, and the communication and cooperation between the NLC and National Library of South Africa. Both parties showed that they would promote the cooperation between libraries in China and South Africa, and further implement the exchange program, making libraries become the platform for mutual understanding of history and culture in the two countries. Besides, Zhang Zhiqing, NLC deputy director, Yan Xiangdong, director of NLC International Cooperation Division, and Shen Xiaojuan, deputy director of NLC Coordination & Operation Management Division, attended the interview.
After the interview, the delegation, accompanied by Zhang Zhiqing, visited the NLC North Area.
