In the morning of 12 August, about a 60-person delegation, led by Li Jianguo, vice-chairman and secretary-general of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), visited the National Library of China (NLC). Zhou Heping, NLC director, Chang Pijun, deputy director and deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of the NLC, Chen Li, NLC deputy director and Zhang Zhiqing, NLC deputy director, received the delegation and accompanied the delegation on the visit.
In the Multifunctional Hall of NLC South Area, Zhou Heping made a working report on legislative reference services on behalf of the NLC. He said that the NLC's all items of work, especially legislative reference services, had long received the great support of NPC's leaders at different levels. Based on the previous service experiences and achievements, the NLC would carry on working hard, further deepen the services for the NPC and NPC Standing Committee, perfect the services for deputies to the NPC, and launch the information platform for providing services for Special Committees of the NPC, so as to make contributions to improving the government decision making level and ability.
In the conference, Li Lianning made a speech on behalf of the NPC, which showed that the NLC's information services for the NPC and the CPPCC had become the attractive scenery during the NPC and CPPCC sessions. He believed that this visit would benefit the NPC and its related institutions, and the NPC's work would be bound to receive the great support of the NLC in the future.
In order to learn the general situation of NLC's legislative reference services intuitively, the delegation visited the Exhibition on the NLC Legislative Reference Services Achievements, which presented the development and achievements of the NLC's legislative reference services.
During visiting the Exhibition on the NLC Legislative Reference Services Achievements, Li Jianguo communicated with the guider from time to time, and highly affirmed the achievement of NLC's legislative reference services. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the NLC should further improve the legislative reference service level, innovate service manners and use modern information technologies to provide more convenient information access channels.
In the following, the delegation also visited the NLC North Area & National Digital Library of China, and appreciated the NLC's treasured collections, such as the Complete Library of the Four Branches of Literature. Li Jianguo appraised the spacious and comfortable reading environment and the modern services, and highly affirmed the achievements on ancient books preservation and conservation.
