Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd. (Nasdaq: SNDA | PowerRating) launched its e-book terminal Bambook at the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy) on July 29, 2010. From August 9, the company will receive orders for the product on its official Web site.
Shanda Literature (SDL) CEO Hou Xiaoqiang reveals that Shanda started the R&D of e-book terminals one year and a half ago, which consumed inputs of tens of millions Chinese Yuan.
Bambook is compatible with the technologies of Wi-Fi and USB network access. Users could surf on the Internet as long as the e-book terminals are connected with their computers. With a standby of 24 days, Bambook could be charged with solar power.
The contents of Bambook come from the online bookstore of SDL, which spend CNY 10 million purchasing copyrights of popular books per year.
As to the selling price of Bambook, Shanda has not provided related news. Hou discloses that the market price of the e-book terminal will be lower than that of similar products in the future.
