National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the debut ceremony of A Reader on China in Kazakh edition in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan on Aug. 19. Zhou Li, Chinese ambassador to Kazakhstan presented the ceremony and made speech at the ceremony.
Zhou Li pointed out, more and more people around the world are hoping to learn and gain a better understanding of China in recent years. The publication of A Reader on China in Kazakh edition opens a window for people of Kazakhstan to get close to China, which is favorable for deepening the understanding between peoples of both countries.
A Reader on China, written and compiled by Chinese well-known writer Su Shuyang, is a popular reader, aiming to introduce about the Chinese history and culture, which has been translated into multiple languages, including English, French, German and Russian, with a circulation of more than 10 million copies. Provided the funding by Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan, the translation and publication of the book in Kazakh edition is jointly taken charge by National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ethnic Publishing House of China.
